Import/Export License

Navigating Financial Success Together

If a business intends to import goods into or export goods out of South Africa, it must be registered with SARS as an importer and/or exporter.

To register for an Import/Export license, the following original documents and information are required:

  • Certified Company or Close Corporation (CC) registration documents

  • Certified ID copies of all directors or members

  • An original bank letter confirming your company’s banking details, including the account opening date and bank stamp

  • Confirmation that the company is registered for Income Tax

  • A Power of Attorney on the company’s letterhead authorizing us to complete the registration on your behalf (this will be drafted and emailed to you after the order is placed)

  • Proof of the business’s physical address, or an affidavit confirming the physical address (affidavit will be drafted and emailed once the order is placed)

  • Proof of contact details, or an affidavit confirming contact information (also drafted and emailed upon order placement)

The Import and Export Registration process typically takes 10–20 business days. However, delays may occur if SARS is experiencing high volumes or backlog.

Once the application is successfully processed, you will receive your official Import and Export Code.
