BEE Affidavit

Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is designed to provide previously disadvantaged individuals with the opportunity to participate fully in South Africa’s economy by enabling them to own and manage their own businesses.

Businesses that apply for a BEE EME Affidavit can enjoy increased exposure and opportunities, as many clients prefer to partner with BEE-certified companies. This certification also grants access to public sector tenders and creates a fairer competitive environment, allowing smaller BEE-certified entities to compete with larger suppliers.

A BEE Affidavit can be obtained by entities with an annual turnover of R10 million or less, or by newly established businesses.

The BEE Affidavit levels are:

• Level One: 100% black-owned (135% B-BBEE procurement recognition)

• Level Two: More than 51% black-owned (125% B-BBEE procurement recognition)

• Level Four: Less than 51% black-owned (100% B-BBEE procurement recognition)

To apply for a BEE Affidavit Template, you will need to provide:

• A copy of the company/CC registration documents

• Share certificates (for (Pty) Ltd companies only)

• Certified copies of ID documents for directors, members, or shareholders

• Proof of business income, such as recent financial statements or 12 months of bank statements (not required for start-ups or companies less than 12 months old)
